600,000 people are on the list to go. Not only that for the place to make the money back that was put into it, It would take selling out lunch and dinner everyday for the next 56 years.

Edit for the tards. Matt Stone and Trey Parker bought this run down place in Denver. Dumped millions and millions in it to bring it back. They did a SP episode on it. Google the place.

I went last year. It was really cool. Food is meh. It’s all about the experience.

The food is terrible (or was). That's part of the charm.

Their “performers” went on strike so maybe people will just eat and leave.

I think I'll skip....what sort of restaurant has you walk through a metal detector and check bags to enter

"Safety First!
For everyone’s safety, we have a security check at our entrance. Everyone entering will go through a metal detector and anyone with a bag will have it checked by one of our friendly guards. No weapons of any kind are allowed, including pocket knives, utility tools, and mace or pepper spray. Please review our guest Code of Conduct for more details. We also request that you leave strollers in the car."

Ate there in the early 80s. My kids got a big kick out of it.

I put in a reservation request when we were in Denver August of last year. Still haven't received the email indicating our table is ready.

It was a $40 million renovation
LINK

quote:

Matt Stone and Trey Parker, born and raised in Denver, were obsessed as kids with Mexican restaurant Casa Bonita, a massive, labyrinthine, Disneyland-ish local landmark that opened in 1974 in Lakewood, Colorado with roving characters, live entertainment — including a cliff diving show — secret rooms and so-so food. It fell on hard times and then closed in 2020 during Covid.

So they bought it after some soul searching and hoped a speedy renovation would delight their kids and others as they had been delighted. The Denver area cheered.

It was not speedy and quickly soared past the estimated $6 million budget — ultimately passing $40 million. Floors, walls and ceilings were rotten, everything electric outdated and dangerous and plumbing a disaster in the 54,000 square foot emporium. A falcon had been dropping pigeon carcasses onto the roof since the 1970s. There is much footage in the new doc ¡CASA BONITA MI AMOR! of Parker wandering the site in distress, weaving amid an army of contractors, and texting pics to Stone. A lot of, “That’s so disgusting.

It has ALWAYS been about the experience.

FWIW there used to be a Casa bonita in Tulsa and it had food and nothing else. Once was enough.

The one in Denver was worth repeat visits just for the ...ambiance isn't the right word, it's more basic as in "fun to be there" and people watch. Especially the children reacting to the divers.

Went last summer. Crazy expensive but it killed 3 hours no problem. Food is of much higher quality than the old version but it is TexMex and not authentic mexican food.

Was Cartman there for a birthday party?

Those two guys just signed a billion dollar deal with Paramount so they have the money to throw around.

I’m sure a nut job that wants to shoot the place up will be glad to know every person in there is helpless. Can’t even throw their utility knife at the guy.

Matt Stone and Trey Parker didn’t actually buy it until 2021, so I’m sure that’s when its popularity really blew up.
