Superdome is rent free.( saints provided minuscule capex )
Saints get approximately 600million in revenue through building naming rights, concessions, etc…

I do not approve of this contract that hides a $600 million annual subsidy to a private entity. Do you?

On face value…no. Not much info stated.

What are the naming rights dollar value? What is the income tax value?

Ultimately, what is the net?

You mean Kansas. That state is gonna be broke in about 10 years. That’s what happens and you let women negotiate business deals though.

Missouri had 2 NFL teams a few years ago. By 2030 they will have none.

That’s what it takes to keep them in New Orleans.

It’s nothing about sports. It’s our state subsidizing a private business, thus political

What are the facts?

Ok, so the Saints get 600 million from naming and concessions. How much does the state get?

How much revenue is credited to the home games? How much tax does the state collect?

How much in taxes does the Saints organization pay annually? How much in taxes does their payroll pay the state?

We need the full story here.

If a business is bringing in $1,000 and the state gives them $400 to stay, then the state still makes $600 and would make $0 without them.

Now change those numbers to millions and you’ll see the state is making $600 million but only giving away $400 million.

Your post doesn’t mention any of these factors. Is it profitable for the state? We don’t know.

I noticed that you choose to bring this up as the Saints (who most people were about to leave for dead) is coming off of a 3 game winning streak and possibly looking at finishing the season 7-10. At least 5 to 6 games better than most predicted.

Can't just be happy and positive. Got to always find a way to crash the party.

That's why this belongs in the Saints board. They love that kind of stuff.

You just proved you're either a Troll or some fricking loser that doesn't understand the economics of Conventions, Professional and College Football, and that impact on the City and the State

Where'd you come up with $600 million per year?

SoFi's naming rights deal for the Rams/Chargers stadium is $30 million, and I'm willing to bet the Superdome gets something in the neighborhood of half of that.

Concessions at an NFL game is in the $2-3 million range.

Parking for an NFL game is in the $1-2 million range.

Are you counting ticket, suite and broadcast rights revenue?

You should follow the Saints. They are on an upward trajectory sooner than most thought. They appear to have found a gem in Tyler Shough (Shuck).

The also have a very promising young rookie class that they drafted last April.

I asked grok a handful of specific questions trying to get specifics…then summarized the answers…
Professionally, I’ve been involved in several economic development projects….
I also asked specifically what the state received in tax revenue being associated with the Saints…there’s always ambiguous studies (from government entities, no less) with BS answers..they fold in everything and the kitchen sink associated with events at the superdome to justify the hidden subsidy…
What other business gets totally rent free commercial building with the added benefit of naming royalties and other financial perks?

I think taxpayers would be better off not subsidizing sports. Totally OK with people disagreeing… but it’s also obvious, many are so emotionally enthralled in sports it fogs their vision. You may not be one, but some of the other rude assholes are….
