With Kiffin at LSU I thought O would be a shoo in to be on his staff in some capacity. He even called O as he was driven by Tiger Stadium. I thought the two are thick as thieves. I wonder what the deal is.

I doubt the admin wants Coach O back on staff.

Even Kiffin knows it’s a bad idea to bring O back in the building.

He allegedly hit on a big booster's wife, just days before he was fired. That booster threatened to pull his support if O ever worked for LSU again.

He either didn't want the job or wasn't offered it.

Riveting.

This. So far they've given Kiffin full reign as they should, but I wouldn't be surprised if they requested that he keep Orgeron out.

Why would you think that everyone would just be cool with him coming back, given all of his antics? He had the dream and he pissed it away. I would never trust him again. It's a pattern.

Well, he's been on every media platform that would have him on, saying he was looking to get back into coaching, so I would say the second option is more likely.

just because they are buddies doesn't mean they will coach together

Oof, sounds awfully familiar.

quote:

Kiffin, wearing a black pinstriped suit with a cardinal-colored tie, had just arrived from Tennessee, where he left in his wake players, students and fans angry about his decision to bolt to the Trojans after only one season as Volunteers coach.

He called his return to USC, where he coached from 2001-06, “a perfect fit,” and said that he had always considered it his dream job.

If you were Baker, would you want former head coach and now assistant O to do an end around you to bother Kiffin any time there is a disagreement/difference in philosophy or whatever? No way, not worth the chance.

He wanted to make sure all the Brian Kelly fan boys didn’t commit suicide.
