What is Kiffin's plan? What will he do to turn this around?

For the record, I do believe we got the coach we needed, but I want to play devil's advocate and also get feedback from the posters who know more about the program than me.

We all know LSU made the "correct" hire, but is Kiffin the "right" hire. Yes, he wins the press conference every time. He's the splash hire and obviously a better fit than have it my way BK. But what are his strengths on the field that will bring us an SEC championship, beat Bama, and get us in the playoffs every year? We all know he develops QB's and can recruit, but beyond that, X's and O's, where will he elevate our team?

Fire away.

Well, he was telling me yesterday his plan but I was drinking heavily so I forgot most of it.

How on earth would anyone here know what his plan is?

He’s going to keep what works (the defense) and add talent, scheme and general identity on offense.

1. Go to the portal and get key guys with 2 years remaining for key offensive skill positions, OL, and to replace some of our starting defensive departures
2. Sign top 5 recruiting classes every year in quality not quantity
3. Run the offense with tempo where we aren’t risking a delay of game on every play

Actually knowing what you're doing on offense is a start.

He didn’t need a plan, he doesn’t need coaches, he doesn’t need players. All he has to do is show up and we win.

If we can pull Chambliss and Lacy from an OM team that already won a playoff game…..we 100% got the right guy.

1. Bring in players that fit his offensive system and coach them up.

2. Keep a good DC, bring in players that fits his defense and coach them up.

Any other questions?

-He is an elite recruiter and portal attacker. We will get the best players every year from both methods and develop them

-He is one of the best offensive minds in college football. We will always have a lethal offense as long as he’s here

-He is still young and hungry and has a lot to prove. He’s fueled by his haters.

-He is putting the right people “on the bus” and retaining coaches like Blake Baker that he needs

As far as X’s and O’s- pretty simple: look at what his offense does, and pair it with the Blake Baker defense we already know.

Step 1: don't have complete dogshit scheme and play calling on offense.

Step 2: that's it.

Create that culture again
Portal/NIL around great recruiting

Good on BOTH sides of the ball consistently - my biggest concern with LK BUT he’ll have talent at his disposal in BR

Pretty good question.

1) He's probably the best fit with the LSU brand in the modern era (including Saban). The LSU brand is basically pirates from a unique culture. LSU basically ended Miami's bad boy reputation in one evening in 2005 and it's taken them 20 years to recover. If you've been to other great stadiums, they are awesome but feel like county fairs compared to the gladiator/Roman Coliseum feel of Saturday night at Tiger Stadium. Kiffin is perhaps the first coach we've ever had who can amplify that experience.

2) He's creative offensively. Louisiana excels at producing skill position athletes, but it never feels like LSU realizes their potential on offense. Hopefully he can improve that.

3) He's good in the portal. To be fair, so was BK, but BK was not able to develop the portal talent. It seems Kiffin not only recruits well in the portal, but also develops talent.

4) He kept Baker. Curious to see how DL hire goes.

5) He's basically the best social media influencer among CFP coaches. I think this is important for kids. Kelly to his credit, tried, but it was like watching Homer Simpson dance.

So putting this together, If I'm Kiffin, the plan is
1) Elevate and sharpen the LSU brand.
2) Finally use the Louisiana skill position talent creatively.
3) Be a force in the portal and develop talent.
4) Become known for letting DC's develop and become HC's elsewhere.
5) Be the best known name in CFB.

The downside of this is that what gets built up always gets torn down. It's the nature of our media. So I'm guessing we get 1-2 years of build out. 2-3 more years of championship level play. Then the tear down.

What’s the difference between right hire and correct hire. I’m confused.

There is no reason, as of now, to believe Chambliss will be granted an extra year of eligibility. He has used his four years. Why do so many think he will get more? The NCAA has no reliable track record to base this on. I would not count on Chambliss.
