Such a good character actor. I don’t think I’ve seen anything with him in it where his performance didn’t stand out.

He was a pretty damn good actor. His parts in both The Wire and Generation Kill had me not liking him at first, but on repeated viewings I really got to like his characters and how he portrayed them.

Sounds like he had some pretty serious childhood trauma from being sexually abused by a tutor followed up with substance abuse. It's sad.

Man I fricking loved him in Generation Kill. This sucks on a number of levels, most of all for his wife and kids.

The abuse from his tutor sounds horrifying.

quote:

In 2021, Ransone came forward as a sexual abuse survivor.

The actor said that his former tutor, Timothy Rualo, sexually abused him numerous times at his childhood home in Phoenix, Maryland, over the course of six months in 1992.

Ransone made the accusation public by posting a lengthy note on Instagram that he sent his alleged sexual abuser.

“We did very little math,” Ransone recalled. “The strongest memory I have of the abuse was washing blood and feces out of my sheets after you left. I remember doing this as a 12 year old because I was too ashamed to tell anyone.”

The alleged abuse led to a “lifetime of shame and embarrassment” for Ransone, who told Rualo his actions propelled him to become an alcoholic and a heroin addict.

Season 2 of The Wire is sometimes hated, but imo it's the greatest season of television in history.

Season 2 was awesome. The fact that the show changed lanes so hard after only one season and kept up the excellence going was really impressive. Imagine telling the producers, "now that we have achieved universal critical and viewer acclaim, we are going to change the setting to the docks and introduce a lot of new characters." Brilliant and I'm not even Greek.

I didn't realize the author of Generation Kill, Evan Wright, also killed himself last year. He also apparently went through a lot of shite in his life.
