Jet from Oxford to BR

On3's Ben Garrett said he thought the Tulane game would be their last, whether they won or lost

If true, I feel bad about that other guy’s post asking about this.

I can’t imagine that would just be their last game.

Doubtful, makes no sense. Unless they are just coming back for a day or two to see their families

Makes no sense to leave the team that’s still alive. Maybe they’re flying in for some meetings today and then heading back tomorrow to prep for UGa?

Think it's more likely them coming in to do some portal evals and discussion then leave. Can't see them just leaving now

These poor offensive coaches have a lot going on right now. Trying to move to a new city, spend Christmas time with their families, recruit playerd and coach Ole Miss in the playoffs. Gotta feel like a whirlwind.

Poster on the Ole Miss 247 board said their new OC was in the booth with Weis yesterday

Maybe it WAS his last game, seems far fetched though

They certainly do, but there are definitely people out there making similarly tough sacrifices for a lot less money.

I believe his name is John David Baker.

I still can’t imagine this happening.

Not the first or the last time that will happen being a coach

Would make absolutely no sense. Why would they coach the Tulane game and then leave? A blind man could’ve coached Ole Miss yesterday.

They are splitting time between BR and Oxfart. They aren't leaving in the middle of a playoff run

How generous of LSU to keep lending coaches to little brother. It's hilarious to see on social media how jaded they are and giving Lane 0 credit for this team.

Firstly, it was Weiss isn't a good OC and he'll lose you games. Now it's: "We were the best coached team we've seen all year including on offense"

So, now Weiss is the best OC ever and Golding does a better job than Lane coaching.

Once the loan to little brother is over Weiss will go back to being an awful OC in Ole Miss heads.

Unless Ole Miss is telling them to move on, I doubt they are done with Ole Miss just yet.

I have no knowledge or answers, but:

It IS a business. LSU has hired these guys to do a job, with a start date. Kiffin has some expectations of them doing things beyond coaching the Ole Miss players; recruiting, player evals, portal evals etc.
And Ole Miss' AD also has expectations for the incoming staff that is replacing those who left with Kiffin (and elsewhere).

Does anyone know when the clock starts for the new duties? They may well have been granted time to finish the first round game, but will need to start working "on LSU" soon. And as some folks initially speculated, at some point the Ole Miss side may want to limit contact between outgoing staff, and current underclassmen being coached by them. There's already going to be accusations of tampering, that's a given. The further it goes, the more tangled it would become. LSU may well decide NOT to take a guy who would enter the portal and that they would want, just to avoid the appearance of doing that.
