Looking at a stack of firewood and wondering what stories it could tell

What animals took refuge in the shade of those trees? Or climbed up the side?

What was going on in the world when those trees first sprouted with natures hope of lasting?

One piece has evidence of a long broken off limb, slightly healed over. What happened on the day that it broke? That event echoes forward through time for me to ponder it in a rack at a gas station.

And now the wood is all split, and the stories will soon become smoke and ash.

And we wonder why the streets of Baton Rouge smell like weed all of the time.

Mu great uncle went huntin' with a friend and came back the only one alive. Speculation ran rampant. My grandmother used to say the only thing that knows the truth is the trees.

I have a trilobite(?) fossil that’s 250 million years old. That’s just such an impossibly long time ago that the mind can’t comprehend.

What did the world really look like then, what was the sky like, which beautiful geographic wonders were present for no thinking being to appreciate - only to fade into nonexistence, others to rise in their place, only for those to also fade. This process repeating millions of times all across the primordial world.

What if aliens did really visit earth but it was 250million years ago and they only saw this trilobite and other simple life. What if aliens visited 1000 times over the millions of years? Studied all life present at the time and left. We’d have absolutely no clue they were ever here

I dig your schtick. You are a weird dude, but I respect it. Where do you live? If I’m in the area, let’s have some gummies.

When I see a dog turd, I think: “What kinda mood was the owner of that dog in when they fed their dog?”

(Not really, never thought much about firewood either)

And more stories or a drunkin’ night will take place because of the fire the wood will make. Hell, someone may be conceived by that fire later tonight. Circle of Life.
