37 degrees in Gillsburg, MS this morning. The calendar says give it a go in the bedding area off a brake, so the set in a big white oak it is. Mathews Lift X 29.5 with the Trypans. Grunt call will be used this morning. Good luck.

Area 2
40° south wind
35 whelen

In the same tree I killed my biggest deer to date out of 2 years ago. Got a thicket south of me, about 50-60 yards of open woods, then another thicket. Yesterday I hunted the woods between them and had a deer slip through the thicket to the north of me. So I hunted on this side of it to keep the wind in my favor and hopefully be able to see him if he slips through again.

My area 4 bucks too. Occasional 10p-2am visit but just like acorns or something holding them still. Hopefully the rut gets going soon

Drinking coffee and watching The Hunting Public on YT. Christmas party tonight for work.

Anyone shoot Remington 7400? I used my dad’s .270 for a few years but hate the trigger pull. Just changed the trigger spring and it’s supposed to cut the poundage in half. Plan to go shoot it today to test out the difference.

That’s a fine start to the morning, then.

Had one lane full of activity. Two three year olds sparring. Some lip curling and following.

Worked a decent buck a little but never got him to step out into much of an opening. Saw him in the trees and grunted him around the field to a tree where he started hooking

Never got into enough of an opening to ID him enough. Sucks because we’ve had pictures of a big buck around this stand lately and not sure if it was him or not. Shoulda ground checked it lol

I'll be sitting on a big arse field later for end of the day. Have to switch it up here, rut is way over and I haven't seen daytime movement in a few weeks. Mornings ain't it right now and today is all sun so they aren't likely to be walking around. Or they are, just not where I am. Anyway, I'll be out later with a new spot and some hope.
