Box blind where the camera has picked up a few bucks crossing the road

Saw a buck chasing a doe while we were riding in on the Trace yesterday evening, hoping they are getting close here.

40° no wind.

I’m sitting in a widows backyard. She has 10 ac or so of grown up pasture on a travel corridor between bigger patches of habitat.

Hoping to catch a buck passing through before work.

New area that I scoped out on satellite maps only, spent a little time picking a tree and I'm not sure I like it. Rolling with it until 945 or so, then might relocate for the midday move I expect will happen.

Still at it in area 2
37° slight north wind
28 nosler

Got set up late this morning. Ran into a fella I met out here that hunts the same area as I do. We went over where we were going to make sure we didn’t mess each other up. Ended up costing me some time, but that’s ok. In the saddle on a ridge between a big slough and a lake. From the tree I can see a lot of area, but from the ground it’s pretty thick with briars. Hoping they feel safe in here and will move around. It’s a pretty morning. Good luck!

Make tending calls with occasional long grunts. Crack branches, stomp on ground to mimic chasing/running, take another branch and hit/rake up and down saplings to mimic making an aggressive rub.

Once you put grunt tube down grab gun and get ready!

So far this year I’ve grunted in a couple bucks by sounding realistic with banging bushes and rustling leaves. Guess the lil 8pt I killed demonstrating that showed me how to grunt and sound more realistic.

Good luck out there today. My dad was a member of a hunting club in Valley Park for ~15 years before the lease was terminated. They burned the camp house down a few years ago. It kills me I can't take my 10 year old deer hunting and crappie fishing down there.
