Lady asks why are food stamps just for real food?

You wanna buy what you want then pay for it yourself.

I know people who are perpetually on welfare.

When you talk to them, they really don’t understand the concept of welfare. It “just is”. It’s supposed to be there like it’s air or something.

Their reality is so warped that they genuinely feel as though you’re taking something from them when what you’re actually doing is reducing the amount of other people’s money that you spend on them.

And I’m not even really faulting them. The government has trained these folks to not only be completely reliant on them, but to be totally oblivious to that and to where their provision comes from. It’s wild.

And sometimes a leech is just a leech.

That’s fair.

It did pop into my head that she might be referring to the exclusion of snacks and “liquid sugar passing itself off as juice”.

I’d still disagree with her but saying “I buy it at the grocery store and I eat it, why can’t I use SNAP” isn’t a completely ridiculous question.
