“Consequently, in addition to Arlington Park, we need to expand our search and critically evaluate opportunities throughout the wider Chicagoland region, including Northwest Indiana,” Warren mentioned in the letter. “This is not about leverage. We spent years trying to build a new home in Cook County. We invested significant time and resources evaluating multiple sites and rationally decided on Arlington Heights.

“Our fans deserve a world-class stadium. Our players and coaches deserve a venue that matches the championship standard they strive for every day. With that in mind, our organization must keep every credible pathway open to deliver that future.

“The Bears have called Chicago home for more than a century. One certainty is that our commitment to this city will not change. We will continue to provide unwavering support to the community. We need to secure a world-class venue for our passionate fanbase and honor the energy you bring every week. The Chicago Bears are a founding franchise, playing in the oldest and smallest stadium in the NFL.

The fact they said “This is not about leverage” means it definitely is.

do the Bears actually want to move to the north Chicago suburbs or do they want to stay downtown?

The city proposed this, rebuild Solder Field with a dome. $2 billion. Why reject it?

They want to control the surrounding area to have a year round revenue source plus most of their high dollar fans live on the Northside.

NW Indiana doesn't necessarily mean Gary.

But the Bears should 100% consider it. They won't have to deal with the bureaucratic red tape of Illinois, and Indiana will likely give them what they want to finally get this project moving.

Just a reminder, George Halas only meant for the Bears to move to Soldier Field temporarily in the early 70s before they got a new stadium built. Here we are 50+ years later, and they're still dealing with shite from the state. They should finally give Illinois the middle finger and leave.

It’s not Illinois, it’s Chicago. Unfortunately Chicago controls the whole state and there isn’t another city of decent size to host them in Illinois.

That said, they will build in the Chicago metro area. Bears fans won’t travel down to Indiana for their games en masse and they don’t have the public transport infrastructure that Yankees are dependent on to get them anywhere so this is much ado about nothing.
