Mining asteroids will be a game changer

The Moon is a Harsh Mistress.

Mining asteroids will be a game changer
Edit - but unlike Elon's thinking, money will still matter! It's going to cost a tremendous amount just to recover enough to experiment in developing fusion solutions

Typical Nazi stuff taking over the moon and creating a mass driver.

I hope we will be keeping cows there too. I can't eat minerals.

He can't keep getting away with this. I'm going to stage a protest to stop lunar climate change.

Yes. Chemical rockets are incredibly expensive and not nearly as efficient.

People will live on the moon and we'll leave Earth to the cows.
ETA: but I'd really like to see cows in low/no gravity.

Rocket fuel can't melt moon rocks

Motherfrick yeah can't wait to become a space pirate
Posted on 12/16/25 at 5:32 pm to hawgfaninc
The only way I’m moving to the moon is if they ban immigrants

Suppose we mine an asteroid that has fifty bazilion tons of pure gold. That won’t make anyone wealthier. It will just remove any pretense of scarcity for gold and collapse the gold market. Same for diamonds, iron, copper or any metal we can get from another space rock.
Our actual wealth won’t increase because we will still have to create mechanisms and opportunities to feed and house the people, either through general commerce or charity.
The true frontier is getting our affairs in order on Earth.
