Reading that they needed to have some sort of plan by today. If not, they can’t get 100 million in financing they desperately need.

If they don’t get this… they might not survive much longer.

Not great with Christmas in 10 days…

I heard the other day that they plan to stop furloughing pilots.

But that might be just because all their pilots are jumping ship so they aren’t left without a chair when the music stops

American is going to buy them to absorb their fleet and gates.

Biden's DOJ blocked the merger, forcing a bankruptcy at some point.

They need to stick around because it's an airline I don't use. And there needs to be an airline I don't use.

Hopefully, they're bought out by Carnival cruises. They're made for each other !

I don’t mind spirit it’s not bad on some of their big routes. Their big seat is the best value in the US airline industry.

Goin' up to the Spirit in the sky
That's where I'm gonna go when I die
When I die and they lay me to rest
I'm gonna go to the place that's the best

Aren’t they already dead? They’ve cut nearly all routes out of Florida. Used to love their $80 round trip deals. Turns out you can’t run an airline charging customers $40 a ticket

Blood in the water. If they’re thus desperate for working capital they’re fricked.

People can say what they want about Spirit, but every major airline has copied some of their practices for cheaper flights. The result is airports all looking like north Baton Rouge now.

Frontier is still around (for now). I would suspect the Spirt crowd will venture that way......Breeze airways also could step up.

All they are doing is postponing the inevitable. It is like local businesses here begging for business on socials because they might close. Start making an exit strategy because it isn't going to change

I’ve never flown Spirit but I did get Mrs Füt (no pics) back from DFW once due to an ice storm canceling her original flight via Spirit.

My only recollection is that the Spirit website was a mighty PITA to negotiate in comparison to my experiences with Delta, Alaska, AA, BA, JAL, Lufthansa, etc…

seems to be a common strategy in that industry, stay on the ventilator long enough and a strong airline will pick you up, all of the execs that ran it into the ground get huge bonuses or buyouts, employees are absorbed as charity cases, usually to the detriment of the employees at the stronger airline

What I don’t understand is the government wouldn’t let them and I believe JetBlue merge because it would like monopolize the business.

If Spirit goes under or is purchased (not merged) wouldn’t that be the same thing?

Spirit is kinda reminding me of Northwest Airlines and they just need to go out of business.
