Everyone talking about how high grocery bills and other goods are yet dropping hundreds/thousands on Christmas gifts?
How does this make sense?
What's the purpose of going into debt to buy something nobody really wants?

Economy's seems to be fine. Go to a restaurant or mall, places are packed to the ceilings

No way
I maxed out my credit card to get my wife’s boyfriend a new Xbox
It’s the season of giving

Just buy a $1.25 gift card from the Dollar Tree. They can buy 1 of most anything in the store

I hate getting gifts with a passion.
"thank you so much for this thing that I don't want and don't have room to store it. Oh and I have to be appreciative and reciprocative for a thing I have no use for."

It really is pointless once you become an adult
Why do we need to buy each other things we can buy ourselves?

There is nothing wrong with the economy for those who want to work.

They should be called off because they are a waste. Literally handing each other money.

My spouse got the kids a few things, but anything I want/need is stuff that costs $$$. I don't need another hat or socks from my kids. I just told them don't worry about it. They live in different states anyway, so won't be hanging out for Christmas. Even if I had an unlimited budget, probably would still not care to participate in buying a bunch of junk.
