This guy directed the Keaneu Reeves flick 47 Ronin. His wife argues that his amphetamine addiction affected his judgement. His sentence could be decades if the maximum is handed down.

NEW YORK (AP) — A Hollywood director was convicted Thursday on charges that he scammed Netflix out of $11 million for a show that never materialized, while he instead used the cash for lavish purchases that included several Rolls-Royces, a Ferrari and about $1 million in mattresses and luxury bedding. Carl Erik Rinsch, best known for directing the film “47 Ronin,” was convicted of wire fraud, money laundering and other charges, according to court records and a spokesperson for federal prosecutors in New York. In a statement, Rinsch’s attorney, Benjamin Zeman, said he thought the verdict was wrong and “could set a dangerous precedent for artists who become embroiled in contractual and creative disputes with their benefactors, in this case one of the largest media companies in the world, finding themselves indicted by the federal government for fraud.”

He then put the remaining funds into the cryptocurrency market, netting some profit, though Rinsch then deposited the money into his own bank account.
Well the article says he made money on it.

We have found all different ways of throwing money at gambling.
For me it’s magic cards and lottery tickets

Can't put a price tag on a good night sleep, but apparently a cool mil is enough

He should have filmed all the shite he was doing and then submit it to Netflix as documentary.

And Netflix just increased their prices an hour after this story came out. Only in countries with mostly Caucasian citizens though.

Sadly won’t happen.
Probably looking at 5 years.
Declare bankruptcy.
Keep all the money he has in foreign accounts.
Everyone will forget about this in a month.

Now the scene where Keanu fights the glitchy ghost monks finally makes sense.

That’s old news. I guess the conviction part is new. But it was obvious he was going down. For how long is the only thing yet to determine.

Better it goes to something useful than making more homo/tranny propaganda crap.

This isn’t a thing anymore. Hasn’t been in like 20 years. The Fed’s ended banking privacy laws a long time ago. You try to stash some money in Switzerland and the Fed’s will immediately know about it. It’s not the good ol days.

Last December Bitcoin had just busted through $100,000. I congratulated a friend who was heavily invested in it. He guaranteed that it would be at $150,000 by summer and that I should invest. I did not, because I only invest in every third stupid idea, and it’s a good thing I didn’t. It went up to about $125,000 by spring, hovered for a while, and then fell to wherever it is now, $90,000? Ouch!
