Let Kiffin develop the overlooked. Spend your money on building a roster.
This is why Saban left...
"Why are we doing this? All they care about is how much you are going to pay them, not how you are going to develop them"
Terry Saban

Let's be honest.
Saban paid players at a rate higher than any other program.
The sanctimonious act needs to stop.

Hes just mad that now everyone can do it not just the protected blue bloods like Alabama, Ohio State and Texas

Even though players were getting paid back in the day, it’s not the millions of dollars they are getting now. And bc they are getting so much money, their mentality isn’t the same and neither the drive and determination to excellence.

Not saying that Bama didn’t pay players, but they didn’t pay much more than other teams did. Saban was a PHENOMENAL recruiter and sold players on developing them for the league where they would get paid the really big contracts. He did it better than everyone else which was why he had so much success. To say he was only good bc of player payment is delusional. He was successful everywhere he went. NIL just leveled the playing field. Players are much more influenced by how much they get paid, not how much they develop. So Saban lost his major recruiting advantage.

Alabama was paying a lot more than other schools. It's laughable when the idiot Gumps think that Bama wasn't cheating but other schools were.
As if Bama was signing the #1 recruiting class every year by only signing kids who were turning down large sums of money to play for free.

Saban in his prime while recruiting was one charming arse dude. In The Blind Side book, Lewis goes into this. Talks about how while at the Touhy residence he told the mom he loved the patterns on the Valence. Like, what football coach is going to say that? Dude recruited you and everyone in your family.

Bama almost got the death penalty ~ 2005.
Bama getting a slap on the wrist is what helped destroy the NCAA. Why have rules if they don't matter?
if you aint cheatin, you aint trying
They were paying a player 150K-- 25 years ago- (Saban was at 1.2mil at that time)
Kind of sheds a light on just how bad Woodward handled the Will Wade issue.

As it turns out, the Alabama booster played a heavy hand in Means signing with the Crimson Tide.
Federal prosecutors said Young paid former Trezevant High School coach Lynn Lang $150,000 in cash payments during a 15-month period in 1999 and 2000.

There is a scene where Beth looks at Saban and says something like "that is one good-looking man". I heard that said by my wife and multiple other women during Nick's time at LSU. Don't think that didn't help him with mom's when recruiting.

I was wondering whatever happened to the Amite barber (bag man)! I guess he's on the Rant now.

Everyone paid freshman to sign and Bama definitely outspent most.
Where they really shined was paying Juniors with 2nd, 3rd, 4th round grades to return. This is when the gap really widened toward the end of the Miles era.

True, but when it was under the table, the coaches still had some leverage left. Now the leverage is almost entirely with the players. Which we’ve seen how this has worked out so far. Not well. Soft and entitled.
These kids forget they are also getting free education, room and board, state of the art training and health. And they’re still entitled. It’s pathetic

I am ready for the whole rotten mess to implode and collapse. The sooner the better.

Now, credit due where credit is due: Saban did in fact get the most out of every dollar spent no matter if it was above the table or under it by:
A) deciding/selecting/evaluating those players (and thus $)
B) developing those players
C) coaching those players

How many loans did Bear Bryant Jr.’s place “forgive” for Bama’s players through the years?
