Why can’t Russia just have Eastern Ukraine? It’s not even really “Ukrainian”

A lot of bloodshed would be avoided, and areas that speak mostly Russian would just be Russian. Let it stop.
Ukrainian isn’t even a language natively spoken outside of the western part really. So maybe that should be the real Ukraine? Why should we spend money and let more die to prevent Russia taking over historically and ethnically Russian territory?

Add in the fact the Obama admin fomented a coup to oust the Russian-aligned Ukrainian government.
Also add in the fact that most of the folks in that region are culturally and ethnically Russian.
Considering those facts, hard to dispute your point.

I guess large swaths of California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas should go back to Mexico under this flimsy justification.

It's my understanding that the Eastern provinces favored Russia even before the breakup of the Soviet Union. I'm thinking I read about this back in the 70s. If the Eastern Provinces want to go, let them go.

"Ownership" of land is only as good as one's ability to occupy and control it.

I'm no expert but Ukraine and the EU don't want to give up some of eastern side because once give those lands it will be very hard to defend.

Did they succeed in their attack, and the US unable to fight them back?
In your scenario you lefties will allow Russia, Chyna or any other other nation have it cause y'all are cowards and won't pick up arms to fight. Would protest a ring-wing president for fighting back, and actually defeating the invaders.

Consider that that area voted overwhelmingly to leave the USSR/Russia.
