If tweet fails to load, click here. The fact that he has ANY good memories from that abortion. . .Wow.
It was staunchly defended on here by EXACTLY who you think. (they'll be here shortly to downvote)
It was the worst thing he has shite out since that Reboot abortion.

I don't understand what these creators are thinking when they write stories that are antithetical to the source material. Do they truly believe fans are going to respond positively to the shite they've written?

Never watched it. What was the problem with it?

He-Man isn’t in it that much.

It was hilarious that Skeletor lost his superpowers because Evil-Lyn offered to frick him.
Also, the action takes place over the course of a couple of days. And the violence is contained to the palace area. When Skeletor gets the power he appears over Eternia and proclaims, “I am your god!” Then, the very next day Evil-Lyn appears in the sky and proclaims, “I am your god!”
But if you’re just an average Eternian, nothing changed in your life at all. Just a new day, new weirdo in the clouds…

These 80s IPs are so fricking easy to nail....you just do what they did in the 80s.....they cannot allow themselves to do it. Its so telling of the people who make these reboots. They hate the people who loved these things.

Silent Bob should have known better. He sold out.

He’s on video saying he never watched or cared about He-Man, only to later say he was always a big fan. What a fraud.
* Why the DV? Big Kevin Smith fans? He-Man?

I think you're underestimating the ego of people like Kevin Smith. I'm not sure it has anything to do with hating the source material or fans, they just think they're going to give fresh new takes for bitter middle aged dudes like themselves and be praised for it.
Reading about what Kevin Smith did in his Daredevil run, I'm sure it was in earnest but still gross.

This isn't hard to believe. We are talking about a completely different breed of people. The writers in the 80's obviously knew what they were doing. This show was absolutely horrible. I loved HeMan as a kid, and I had all the action figures and castles. I watched the show every day after school. Same with Voltron. I could sit and watch those shows now as a 50yr old man, and enjoy the old shows so much more even though the animation is out of date compared to what we get now.

What was the problem with it?
The star and focus of the show was Teela. They also made her a lesbian girlboss.
He is pretty much absent from season 1. They revive him just to immediately murder him.
And it is even worse when he IS present.
You do get to see He-Man constantly beaten and emasculated by pretty much everyone. So, if that's your thing. . .

1. We didn't need yet another He-Man reboot. It was a fun cartoon but I got tired of people constantly remaking my childhood instead of coming up with new stuff. It's like we ran out of creative steam in the 80s and 90s... or these studios are trying to cater to an audience for nostalgia. Probably both, and it's getting old.
2. If you ARE trying to appeal to fans of the original show, why alter it so much?
3. If you ARE going to put more focus on a female character, the Sorceress was a better choice than TeeLa, as she wasn't terribly important in the original.
4. Any good ideas the show may have had were instantly buried in the politics. Teaming up with the villain has potential but not if people are distracted by the other crap going on.
There's a reason the She-Ra reboot worked and this didn't - the She-Ra reboot didn't try to appeal to the original fans but instead went for a completely new fanbase. This meant that, while the characters might have the same names, you weren't expecting them to act the way they did in the show (and, honestly, the villains had a lot more depth to them - but that's to be expected of any 80s cartoon being remade).
But, at the end of the day, the show just wasn't that good. Even if you don't care about the weird focus on a different character than the one the show is named after, the animation was okay, the voice acting was fine, and the stories were mediocre. At a time when we were getting shows like Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and Arcane Season 1 that showcased what animation can REALLY do, this was just a subpar addition to the genre.

This. He is one of those directors that you are told you are supposed to enjoy. Kind of has a Foo Fighters effect going on

Kevin Smith has made one good movie in his career and it's Dogma.

It was fun and edgy in the time period it came out.

When you read marxist/socialist revolutionary theory the why becomes obvious:
-Mao: cultural revolution sought to destroy the four olds - ideas, culture, customs and habits
-Gramsci's theory of cultural hegemony: revolution requires deconstructing the cultural hegemony of the ruling class. as long as their icons remain "common sense" and shared their power is strong. You must destroy it to open the path to revolution.
-Lenin/Stalin revolutionary theory: in order to sew the seeds for revolution you must capture existing cultural icons and repurpose them to reeducate the masses in socialist ideology
None of this is by accident. And when a corporation is doing things that don't maximize monetary profit it becomes obvious their goals are not business related, but larger.
