Why are there so few white guys in the NBA from the south?

Austin Reeves is the only one I can think of, and he's from the liliest white part of Arkansas.
Seems like there's a strong correlation between NBA white guys and really white places.
It's almost as if it's better not to grow up around black people or hardly ever see any black people until you start playing AAU.
I was always the only white kid on my team in little league basketball, and it wasn't always fun. "White boy this" and "white boy that." Sort of took the joy out of basketball after a while. To some extent that might be part of the reasons why there are so few white guys in the NBA from the south.

Midwest whites are goat at football and basketball.
Southern whites hardly register athletically.
Except for baseball.

God gave all the basketball shooting talent and ball handling skills to the short Cajun baws in South LA, but knew he had blessed us too much already. So he had to give the north LA and southern whites height as a consolation.

I do think there is something to that. I think it’s also why there are so many good white players from Europe. They’re competing against others like themselves.
I played basketball through college and was friendly with black players from different high schools all over the city from various teams we’ve played on, but I can certainly see how that environment could be intimidating as a white guy as it’s a sport heavily dominated by black players.
I don’t think it has anything to do with the south though. Just in general throughout the country there are probably plenty of white kids who don’t go all-in on basketball because they don’t think they’d have a chance competing against black guys who are dunking in middle school.

This might be part of the explanation, also. Midwest white people are more likely to have German and Scandanavian ancestry, and Germans and Scandanavians are bigger than Brittish and Irish people. The south proportionally has more WASP-y white people.

Southern whites are mostly of Anglo Saxon descent and those are the least athletic whites.
Midwest and east coast whites are Scandinavian (viking blood), eastern europe, or Mediterranean descent...more athletic genes

News flash, Anglo-Saxons were Germanic tribes that migrated to the British Islands just after the Roman period. And the Normans that invaded in 1066 were also Germanic. The Irish were a Celtic people. So your German-Scandinavian argument is mostly BS.
Oh and those Anglo Saxons you and others are putting down, Conquered the much of the known world by the late nineteenth century.
