You're nothing but a liberal if you support HOAS

A Florida HOA spent the last five years engaging in lawfare on an elderly couple for having a small cross in their flower garden. A judge finally ruled against the HOA and demanded that they stop the harassment. It's just sickening. People on HOA boards believe they have absolute power and don't have to abide by the Constitution or state laws. It's nothing short of communism. They must be outlawed.
Those of you unencumbered with intelligence will soon be along screaming buzzwords like "tires, cinder blocks, toilets in the yard". Nevermind that cities and counties have codes against that. There are houses worth millions of dollars near me in downtown Orlando with no HOA. You don't see any of that going on. They are maintained in pristine condition.

I used to be in the “they protect property values” camp, but that ship sailed years ago. They are mostly pointless.

You should always get a copy of the HOA documents before you purchase. But it’s not communism or being liberal. Some people like additional rules to maintain uniformity of upkeep and aesthetics. If you don’t like the rules, don’t buy in that neighborhood.
Take a look at the French Quarter. Like the looks and style? Well you can’t just do whatever you want there. They have a French Quarter Management District.
Of course you have some with extremely picky and specific rules but that’s how people in that HOA want to live.

Awesome. They kicked the shite out of the HOA board now he’s on it.

How do so many regular posters not know what communism is while simultaneously feeling comfortable labeling everything that isn’t their favorite things “communism”?

The terms you agree to when you move can change at any time depending on who is on the board. Why do you like to control people?

Which is a good reason to be active in your HOA. I am.
Or if you really don’t like them, buy where there is no HOA.

HOAs are simply an example of what happens to people who are given power over other people. It's like a drug. They always need more power.

And I wonder how many women were on the HOA board and how many men, cost the HOA 240 grand for being stupid

See, you gave yourself away. Your account is only a couple of months old but you speak like you've been here for years. Hank?

It seems so simple.
If you don’t like HOAs, then don’t buy a property in an HOA subdivision.
Nobody is forcing anyone to join.

But it could go on. Most of the time they are filled with overzealous bored people looking to pick a fight.

On the contrary, it is freedom of association, and this freedom is constantly under attack from the Left. If I, and some like-minded people, want to go off and start a commune in Utah where we can control the education of our children and the moral license of the inhabitants, that’s our business, not the government’s. The same is true for the more mundane concerns of HOAs.

The problem with most HOAs and the one and only time I personally had one is that the rules are not applied consistently.
I don’t mind playing by the rules as long as we are all playing by the rules. And some Facebook queen and the limp wristed supercuck down the street deciding how to apply the rule is a joke.

HOA is the single reason I won’t consider Diamondhead, MS for a home.
Wife & I are considering leaving deadstick. More than simple rules are the HOA fees that have no limits.
