Overrun by foreign barbarians?
I think we're too late.

Doubtful, there are an insane amount of parallels with Rome playing out in real time.
The "free wheat program" will work, we just need more time and money.

Chicago being at the same latitude as Rome has always been a fun stat. Europe really is much farther north than we are.

“If I'd lived in Roman times, I'd have lived in Rome. Where else? Today America is the Roman Empire and New York is Rome itself.”

When do we orgy in celebration?

Yea, but Rome was bordered by enemies on all sides. In a time of history where battles were common. They also expanded their own empire through battle, which becomes difficult to manage as you decline. The USA has no bordering enemies, battles are fairly uncommon these days, and we have no intentions of expanding past our natural borders. I don't think it would possible for the USA to be taken over. We are crumbling from within, but I think there's only so much crumbling that can be done. Younger generations will see what's happening and vote accordingly once the life of luxury runs out.

With friends like Mexico and Canada, who needs enemies?

Friend or foe, those are buffer countries and great to have nearby.

Rather have Mexicans and Canadians than all the Muslims Europe is contending with right now.
