Tired of people acting like these aren’t just damn numbers. There is nothing special about them. Give all these numbers to freshman to force the numbers back into a normal rotation.

He'll probably ignore the 5s, Snapchat the 7s and 9s. He'll obviously make sure they're all above 18

5 and 9 are special. Just like 20. If you win a heisman I am fine with your number being retired.

7 and 18 need a complete overhaul. I'd give them back to the players to pass down if they choose.

No number should ever be retired under any circumstances. It’s a flat out stupid and unsustainable practice.

I hate that so many of our fans are obsessed with retiring numbers.

Perkins & Nuss finally killed #7 & #18 for me.

#5 & #9 will both be retired

Well 18 was always done by the former players until Kelly took over that. 7 is something that could be maintained but again based on what the players want. I feel it should be their decision. They're the ones playing the game. Don't understand why fans (mostly the pussy arse men on here) get so caught up in that shite.

Yeah, let’s ignore the fact that players still wear #4, #21, & #37 even though they’re “retired”.

#5, #9, & #20 should never be worn again

Love it or hate it, 7 and 18 are a part of LSU football. We’ve had some misses, but we’ve also had some pretty bad teams. It will all work itself out.
Just win baby!!!

How is 18 chosen now?

Started with Mauck calling the next 18 that he wanted to pass it to.

Players vote on #18.
It’s been that way for a while

I honestly thought the #18 thing started with Jacob Hester after the year he had in 07.

I agree currently, but if we get another 2 QBs to win the Heisman, that’ll be a quarter of our jersey #s at 20 and below that are off limits. At some point, the players will need access back to those numbers.

After LF7 that number turned into somewhat of a curse. Nobody that's worn it since LF has really done anything with it. Delpit did the number honorably, but he wasn't nearly as good in 2019 as he was in 2018. The players like it so roll with it. The 18 should stick. That tradition started 20 years ago signifying when Saban brought up back to national prominence.

I agree. When I saw Nus change to 18, I knew it was over. Throw it all into the inferno.

“Retire” the jersey but keep the number.

Both of their jerseys should be on the wall next to Cannon, Casinova, Stovall, and Alexander.

But at this rate my grandkids will be watching a number 50+ playing a skill position.
