Has there been any change to football the last 15 or so years that’s been a net positive?

This isn’t the same sport anymore and my interest is at an all time low. I hate it. I’m not saying I’m not interested at all. I still watch and keep up. It’s just not the same.

The NFL kickoff thing is absurdly stupid

The sport was so fricking cool the previous 100 years that they all collectively decided that we needed to change literally every aspect of it

I was going to say abolishing the "force out" rule, but that was 17 years ago.
I do think guaranteeing both teams a possession in overtime was a good change. They just fully changed that rule this year, in fact.

I’m still watching, but I’m starting to care less and less. There’s just been way too many changes. College football was far and away my favorite sport, but it’s fading fast. The hottest love has the coldest end-Socrates-Oldmanbeasley

As much as I hate the ACC today, I will say them live broadcasting the review discussions is fantastic.

Extra point being moved back to the 15 yard line in the NFL has been an improvement.
Also like that college has the helmet communicators now.

ACC reviews are awesome. The best thing in football for me.

Fumbling in (I mean out of bounds) opponent’s end zone resulting in a turnover/touchback is a stupid rule that should be changed. But nooooo let’s leave that be.
And I still have absolutely no idea what a catch is.
We need lasers and AI for ball spotting.
And non-Bama/more transparent reviews.
Something about the completely subjective offensive holding calls. Way too easily abused (freaking autocomplete has gone full tard) and game-changing.
Or just leave all that and let’s f things up with more Bama mulligans and second-rate teams in playoffs, stupid recruiting/signing timing, incentivizing player disloyalty, etc.
Other than all that, it’s a pristine amateur sport.

I grew up loving college football more than every other sport combined. However, the changes are killing it for me. I had no rooting interest in the World Series this year, but Game 7 of the World Series is light-years ahead of any football product I've seen.

Coaches are thinner in the post Mangino and Friedgen era. That is about all I got on the college side of things.

You have to remember, Roger Goodell hates the game of football and NFL fans.

Took them what 20 years to figure that out?
