Deputies recover thousands in stolen goods, arrest five in Juban Crossing theft spree

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Livingston Parish deputies arrested five people and recovered thousands of dollars in stolen merchandise this week after members of the LPSO Burglary Division spotted suspicious activity during patrols in Juban Crossing.
Sheriff Jason Ard said detectives first noticed a vehicle whose passengers were littering. During the stop, deputies saw the occupants attempting to hide merchandise from several nearby stores. “We observed the passengers of one vehicle littering. While having a chat with our detectives about the litter, the occupants of the vehicle were trying to conceal a lot of merchandise from several area stores,” Ard said.

“Further investigation revealed the individuals had been on a theft spree targeting numerous retail outlets in Juban Crossing — and, possibly other jurisdictions. These individuals would conceal merchandise on their person, in large purses they were carrying — or — simply walk directly out of the businesses avoiding all points of sale.”
