I had no idea what sort of ability he has for the job, but out of all of Trump's choices he's the one I would have bet the most money on for being sincere and giving it 100%. Sure, maybe he gets teabagged by DC but I thought he'd go down swinging.

Seconded on both accounts. Strangely enough, they were needing a big win and this "win" is what they got when it really doesn't change much of anything other than the collared the "white guy" per Tapper.

My opinion of Dan definitely rebounded with this.

However, it's hard to take them seriously when they stick with the fiction that these devices were a threat to anyone.

-because of the timing issue, the bombs never would have went off
-the bombs were placed to be found, rather than to cause maximum damage
-the Secret Service and Metro PD at the DNC knew the device wasn't a threat
-the authorities stopped looking after they "found" the second device...how did they know there were only two?

I would have much more confidence if they intitially charged Cole with something such as "mayhem"...and investigated why the dummies were actually placed. Instead, to be seen as badass protectors of the public, they had to pretend these devices and this autistic guy were actually public threats. [Why didn't Cole plant any bombs to actually harm some people in the 4+ years of freedom granted to him by the Autopen Adimistration?]

It would have been refreshing if someone had said "We haven't ruled out that these dummies were part of some ruse to stop election challenges and to smear President Trump and his supporters."
