I don't understand the coaching move for Baker if he goes.

Sit at LSU a few more years and then take a legitimate HC position in a legitimate conference. Nothing against Tulane, but it just seems like the better career move.

The guy that just left there was only there 2 years before he was offered FL. What more are you expecting from him?

Its the head gig of his alma mater.....and theyre likely in the playoffs this year. And Tulane is like a trampoline to the big leagues lately!!!

I want him to stay too!!!!! But not real hard to see why he would go

The last 2 Tulane coaches are coaching at P4 schools now. Makes total sense if his long term goal is to be a P4 head coach

"If you aint the lead dog, the view never changes"

Maybe he wants to go to a place like Tulane to gain experience of being the lead dog before he goes after a bigger opportunity

Plus , its his Alma

He has no HC experience. It’s a good career move

Tulane is a stepping stone. Obviously, it's possible to land a big job from there. We just saw it happen.

The LSU DC can be a stepping stone. Aranda landed a big job (not as big).

I really don't think one is a significant advantage over the other. Both require elite success (relative).

Tulane will be competing for the CFP as long as the current rules stay in place. Continue what the previous two did and he’ll be coaching at an SEC school within 3-5 yrs. This is the perfect scenario for him. It would be foolish not to take it.

If they truly get the financial backing they need, wouldn't be surprised if they become a P4 school. I could see the Big 12 doing it if they decide to expand again. With rumors of the SEC considering it themselves, we know the Big 10 and Big 12 will follow suit.

Yeah the guy who is leaving is getting the Florida gig after only 2 seasons. BUT he also has Tulane in a great position to make the CFP. That’s a HIGH bar to maintain. There is really only one direction Tulane can go from here. How does Baker show big time programs he made Tulane better?

All Sumrall did was maintain what Fritz was doing. If Baker keeps Tulane at the same level, that will be sufficient

Tulane is a good gig. If he succeeds he will have a really good P4 job in 2-3 years.

Alex Stein, a Kentucky guy, got the Kentucky job. Every other vacancy of note was filled with a current head coach…. And he’s an alum.

This is a no brainer move

Baker would be stupid to turn down the Tulane job. Look at Sumrall... If Baker does well at Tulane, he'll have offers for a top job within 2 years.

He won't get offers for a premium head coaching job while still a DC.

Last coach ended up at Florida and you think it's a bad idea to follow that path. Oh also it's his Alma mater!!

It is a smart career move, and he is an alumnus. If he is successful, more jobs will open up for him.

Jon Sumrall thinks it’s a good move.
