Honestly solid spot for him. Stays in SEC, good pay, Stein is gonna be primary playcaller anyways…

I said this in another thread but Pete Carmichael was the OC of the Saints but everyone knew it was Sean Payton's offense and Sean actually called the plays. I suspect this will be a similar setup. I suspect Stein wants him to be mainly the QB coach which we liked him in that role here, but needed to give him the OC title and paygrade to get him to take the job. But functionally I expect Stein to be the playcaller being that he's coming from being an OC himself, it will ultimately be his offense.

What in the world did they see out of our offense that made them want to hire Joe Sloan?

Are they masochists?

When you have shitty players it doesn’t matter who the coach is.

I'm surprised Sloan got this decent of a job.

He will most likely call plays and install his offense.

See my post above. Thamel specifically said Sloan is calling plays.

If his role is simply recruiting and coaching quarterbacks, this is a great hire.

If any part of his role consists of game planning or play calling, they will want him fired before halftime of their first game.

They are crazy if they let this muppet anywhere near play calling duties. At best, he should be coaching a high school team. Realistically, he should go be an accountant. He is the worst OC of all OC’s that have ever been OC’d.
