NFL Draft Busts: The One I never See Mentioned

I've been wondering, why isn't Akili Smith ever listed among all time busts?
I know he actually lasted a few seasons, but when you consider what the Bengals were offered for their spot in the draft, I think THAT alone could make him the biggest draft bust ever.
The Bengals kept their spot in the draft to get Smith instead of taking this offer:
The amount of talent the Bengals could have brought in for that is insane.
So while most busts are for a player who bombed in their rookie year or never played, it's hard to compete with losing one top pick to a bad player to losing 3 first-round picks and a total of 11 draft picks for a bust.

Is he not?
Maybe because that was a QB heavy draft class with only a couple that had success.

He is, but there were so many Bengals busts that he just gets grouped with them.
Peter Warrick, KiJana Carter, Dan Wilkinson, etc.

5 quarterbacks in the first 12 spots.
McNabb was good, Culpepper ok, and the rest were busts.

There's a good number of QB's from the 90's I'd love to see in today's offenses.
Akili Smith
Vince Young
Steve Young
Seneca Wallace
Randall Cunningham
Mark Brunell
John Elway
Of course Michael Vick

I don't think 90s Vick, V. Young or Seneca Wallace would do well at all

Good lord. Never knew that was the offer. Between that and Ricky Williams the Saints were going wild with trade ups.

That was the Ricky Williams trade offer, Bengals didn’t take it

You don’t think Vick would be good in today’s NFL?

That was the Rickey trade, except with the 2001 1st & 2022 2nd round pick added.

Ahh for some reason I was thinking Ricky was the year after.

I think they were just teasing that 90s Vick (born in 1980) would probably struggle against grown men in the NFL

90s Vick? No. 2000s Vick, maybe, but he still had accuracy issues

Trent Richardson never gets mentioned enough

Vince Young
Vince was Justin Fields in the NFL, although I think Fields has regressed throwing the ball since college so maybe Vince would be better now

I see his name mentioned pretty regularly amongst biggest busts.

What about Aaron Curry? He was considered the safest pick in the draft and taken 4th overall. He lasted 3 seasons and was never heard from again.
