How to communicate information to a past self

You want to tell your past self to buy a lottery ticket for example.
I am thinking that you travel back in time and leave a sealed envelope with an attorney with instructions to deliver to your past self at an appointed date,
But, your money wouldn’t work to pay the past attorney so take gold back and convert to contemporary currency?
I don’t think you could ever talk directly to your past self without causing problems.

That's a pretty dope concept.
I don't even understand the lottery so I guess I am just forever a poor

If I can go back in time, I'm killing myself and taking his place so that I can enjoy the time between the past and my former present whilst taking in money and bitches.
Paradoxes be damned.

Watch the movie Primer (2004). Probably most realistic time travel movie that covers your premise.

Why wouldn't you just hand the envelope to your former self instead of hiring a lawyer? Just wear one of those Groucho Marx disguises and save like $350. Do you even think when you post?

or just put it in the fricking mailbox

I tend to think direct contact could introduce some pitfalls, and I’m not sure that you could disguise yourself enough. And you have to think of the timing of it: How far in advance do you advise your past self to act?

buy a lottery ticket
True story, last night's Powerball drawing, I had the Powerball and the first two numbers. And only missed the other 3 numbers by 10 digits combined.
In other words, I won $7.

Well I wouldn't use USPS to deliver after reading the other thread.

If time travel is possible why not just travel back and leave the envelope in your own mailbox? frick you need an attorney for?

You can't travel in the past.
