Do any of the grinding mills in Louisiana sell syrup to the public?

You want syrup that was made to be syrup.

Poirier’s in Youngsville has what you seek.

The closest thing you can get to something that was “right out of the mill” is the sugar they sell at the Alma store in Lakeland.

Just buy Steen's.

My family owns one of the mills. My grandpa used to bring some home when I was a kid to put on waffles and biscuits and there is no noticeable difference with Steens

Yep. I love Steen's, but Poirier's is another level.

I was intrigued by the Poirier’s reference. Seems they are sold out for the year but it looks great. Maybe someone knows if it is sold in a retail store that could still have some?

I would say 85 to 90 percent is sold to restaurants. A couple of years ago a friend got a couple of bottles and I was lucky enough to get one from him. It lasted about two weeks. Makes the best pecan pie I've ever eaten.

Alma has cane syrup and rum also.
