Recruiting in the state of TX…

Doesn’t look like LSU has a commitment from any player from Texas? Can’t recall us not plucking a few top players from there.

We also didn’t have Texas and OU in the same conference as us. That’s where they get the majority of their talent. Add in Texas A&M and now Texas Tech is throwing bags around, things are getting crowded. Even Oregon has made headway into Texas now. They have a few Texans on their roster.

Our Texas recruiting took a huge hit when the Texas teams started joining the SEC.

That’s why I was against letting Texass and Oklahoma in. I felt it would hurt LSU the most. Houston area has always been good to LSU as well as east Texas. No more

ATM has been in since 2012… it did not hurt Texas recruiting. UT hasn’t been in long enough to know that impact. Both false.

Plenty of talent to go around in Texas if you look in the right places

Was it like that before Katrina? Or was that just the big crop of families that had relocated which have now come and gone

Because BK was lazy and not a great recruiter - maybe slighly above average.

I think it’s just lack of awareness and work ethic by Kelly…. I think Lane will be able to go into Texas and start getting guys again.

Im fairly confident that CBK said this current team (Portal+Roster) cost approx $18 Million! And LSU had the #1 Rated Portal class & a Top 8 Recruiting Class. Considering those facts Ive just one question:
WTF are you comin up with the idea that $25 Million is a puny amount of NIL for 1 damn team???

I agree with this, LK and staff havent had the opportunity to utilize the NIL or the momentum since arriving at LSU.

This was a small class bc of the coaching change and we focused on keeping what we had committed and going after a few guys lane had relationships with already.
In normal years I still expect LSU to get a few Texas guys especially in the Houston area.
LSU still has a strong presence in Texas but yes the competition is fierce with 2 Texas schools in the sec. Of course Oklahoma gets most of its guy from Texas. Oregon and Ohio state hit it hard. Most of the sec spends time recruiting the state.

NIL made this cycle of recruiting in TX crazy.
UT with only 4 of the top 25.
OU with 0 top 10, and 2 of the top 25.
TAMU 1 from the top 25.
From the top 25:
Houston - 3,
TT - 3
USC - 2
Oregon - 2
And then you have the Gators with the No. 6 guy in Texas WTF?

Aggies are on the come up. Texas Tech as well.

well still get dfw and Houston kids. More than enough to go around

It's going to be a heavy lift to pull Texas players from here on. So many schools are over there throwing around desperate money. It's going to be a bloodbath. LSU will be able to bring in Texas players if they really want to but it's going to be costly.
Instead of getting into yearly bidding wars with Texas, OU, A&M, Texas Tech, etc., it might make more sense to buy proven players in the portal and focus on HS recruits in the old SEC footprint.
Hopefully the new GM is all he's cracked up to be because roster management is critical. The SEC is going to cannibalize itself while Ohio State bullies the Big 10.
