Watched it once as a kid and it didn’t really stick with me. But 3-4 years ago I watched it again and my family and I watch it multiple times every year now. It’s my second favorite Christmas movie after A Christmas Story.

Michael Caine fricking crushes it in this movie. I read a story that said he only agreed to do the movie if he could play Scrooge as seriously as possible with no silliness from him. Originally Scrooge had funny and goofy bits in the movie but to get Caine to play Scrooge they scrapped them

it's the best christmas movie imo

caine treats the muppets like real people instead of just muppets, the secret sauce of the movie

Controversial opinion but it’s my favorite version of Christmas Carol.

I’d also argue it’s the most faithful movie adaptation to Dickens writing.

I put this on last year and found out that my wife hates the Muppets. I wish I would have known that before I married her.

For anyone in Bham this weekend.

https://alabamasymphony.org/events/muppets/

“The ASO presents Disney’s The Muppet Christmas Carol in Concert featuring the complete film, with the orchestra score performed live to picture.”

Looking forward to it.

Michael Caine's portrayal of Ebenezer Scrooge is a freaking masterpiece.

The mouse at the beginning "please sir, I want some cheese" makes me lose it every time.

All of the older Muppet movies are my jam.

The Muppet Movie is legit one of my favorite movies of all time. I could watch it anytime.

Muppet Treasure Island, The Great Muppet Caper, Muppets In Space, The Muppets Take Manhattan, all great movies.

It is the best filmed adaptation of the novel and Caine is the best onscreen Scrooge. Period.

I’ve been contemplating watching the other Muppet movies. Are they all pretty similar quality?

The original, The Muppet Movie, is near perfect. Songs are incredible (but not too many), very funny, the celebrity cameos are really good. i watched it as a kid and loved it but years later I watched it and liked it even more as an adult, appreciating the humor a lot more. It has aged really well. I am not kidding when I say it is one of my favorite movies ever.

I would say most people have The Christmas Carol as the second best Muppet Movie, I personally would have The Muppets Take Manhattan and The Muppet Caper (was actually directed by Jim Henson) over it but I am probably in the minority there. Muppets Treasure Island doesn't feel as much as a Muppet movie but more of just a comedic but faithful adaption to the novel but with Muppets in it All worth a watch.

Jason Segel is a huge Muppets fan and did The Muppets in 2011 that was surprisingly good.
