Typically incoming coached don't. But I am curious what he could have done with this offensive team. That would be the floor.

He can come in and help offensively, sure.

Why would he want to tarnish his reputation and diminish excitement for next year by coaching a gutted roster to a loss in a meaningless bowl game?

CLK will rightly do as Kelly did four years ago and observe from the booth.

I dont know of a case of an outside hired coach ever coaching in the bowl game just getting hired prior to it

I'm sure he can help out offensively in some game planning but he will probably just watch from the sideline or a booth. Frank is running the show until after the bowl game as he should

Kiffin's primary and only focuses frankly should be recruiting/portal and staff right now

He will use bowl prep and the bowl game to evaluate his current roster.

I'm sure he will be there.

Let him work NSD and the portal for the next 6 weeks.

Most of the time not but in this situation, why not? It’s not unprecedented but it is rare.

Steve Sarkisian for USC. Ed O was the interim and they hired Sard and Ed O left USC before the bowl game.
Sark coached the bowl game.

The only logical reason I can see him coaching it is if Lane wants to see MVB running some of his offensive packages as an evaluation for next year

Quick search shows this did not happen

No, Steve Sarkisian did not coach USC in their 2013 bowl game; he was hired as the new head coach in December 2013 but skipped the game to focus on his new role. The 2013 USC team was coached by interim head coach Clay Helton for the Las Vegas Bowl, which they won against Fresno State.

MVB is not going to be the QB here next year, I can tell you that with pretty high confidence right now

Should bowl prep to start installing offense for the players who will be here next year. Have the OC and receivers coaches in place, place Atkins as OL coach once Davis is canned, and see if Frank is capable to coach RBs under this system. Let Frank keep interim tag for the bowl game.

Good opportunity to evaluate future coaches as well as players.

LOL. If you really believe this, that’s both sad and tragic.

He can get familiar with the team personal by being around for practice and bowl game.

Just like Frank Wilson told the players to use the OU game as an audition.
