It Finally Sunk in What LSU Accomplished

Stole a HC from a conference rival having their best season ever and heading to the CFP. He turned down comparable contracts from Ole Miss, who would’ve built him a statue, and Florida (a perennial power until recently).
Walked away from all that to come take over a 7-5 team because he sees the potential. Wasn’t even deterred by the bad PR and a meddling governor.
LSU brand is hard to beat
ETA: As others have stated, Verge deserves a ton of credit too. Barely on the job a month and landed the #1 target.

LSU brand is something the rival fanbases don’t want to acknowledge, but it’s there bigly. We can all name the names but now add Lane Trane!

I was really skeptical this was actually going to happen just because of how rare it has been for the big public target to actually be the hire. Throw in the appearance of chaos with the governor and things were looking bleak.
I think it begs the question, despite all that, things were presented to Lane that made him think this is a place he could plant his flag. That’s not just salary, Florida or even OM would have paid him, it has to be things like NIL, salary for support/staff, degree of control, and facility improvements. If this was all packaged in a way that Lane and Sexton both believed it wasn’t bullshite, that should excite LSU fans.

Ole Piss shouldn’t have recognized a mythical ‘58 NC…probably had Kiffin cringing and sealed the deal for him jumping ship.

We have always had the potential and just one thing or another has kept us from being a dominant program. Saban showed us it could be done and we have to an extent done it the past 20+ years. Had Saban stayed we'd have likely 10 NC's. If he had stayed in the NFL after leaving us we'd likely have 6-7.

While I personally hated losing Bama, now looking back and looking ahead, we have a great set up with Ole Miss, Arky, and A&M. We should basically never lose to 2 of the 3 and at worst beat the other 66% of the time.
