Kiffin never put that on himself. His current boss did.

Right. Kiffin is trying to get them to agree to allow him to coach through the end of the season. He will push this until they tell him no.

He wants to announce the new hire at the same time.

Correct. He promised the Ole Miss people an announcement today so something should be forthcoming even if it is just another delay.

It’s Kiffins. But I wouldn’t say “fault”, but if you want to put it on anyone jts on him

If he wants to be the LSU coach, there is no realistic way ole miss can keep him after he tells them that

I still don't understand Kiffin's obsession on wanting to coach them in the playoffs. What does he gain by it if he ultimately is leaving for LSU? All it does is hurt him in recruiting/portal going into Year 1.

It’s his team. He has relationships with those players. Not LSU. Y’all crack me up

No, he is trying to avoid looking like he's leaving them high and dry. There is no way in hell either school will let this go past Tuesday night.

I suspect Lane might be negotiating for some middle ground here. Perhaps Ole Piss gives in and dismisses him (so he doesn't look bad) in exchange for his assistants/players staying until the end of the playoffs. LSU gives a bit by not having those assistants right away but because of the coaching change scholarship rules they can get those assistants and players when the season is over for them.

That could be the delay. I'm sure the assistants who stay will get bonuses and it's probably taken them all day to arrange for NIL bonus payments to ensure the players are on board with it too. If this was a decision 10 years ago it probably would've been announced before they left Starkville. At least you don't have to worry about your coach having a horrible fake accent as he talks about his faaaaaaamillllyyyyy.

From the reactions from the players at yesterday's game they clearly don't feel the same.

A strangely large number amongst us seemingly don’t (or wouldn’t) understand the distinction anyway.

He was talking about themselves, as in "we, the OM administration". He doesn't give a shite if you or I know.

What do you think? Sign the extension or leave. He’s choosing not to sign it so he can finish out the season before leaving. They know he’s leaving but legally he hasn’t signed anything so they’re at an impasse

True. But that’s the deadline everyone hung on to expecting something today. Kiffin never said it. The AD did.
