I was just told the reason Lane hasn’t been announced yet is because the Ole Miss decision makers are split on if Lane should be allowed to continue coaching through the playoffs or not.
So until Ole Miss decision makers decide what they wanna do there will be no announcement.

If Ole Miss lets him coach through the playoffs they are dumber than even I thought they were.
End of playoffs the will have no coach and it will be to late to get a good coach.

There is nothing to think about if you are Ole Miss. He is now the coach of a rival and will be locked out of all facilities. The idea this is even up for discussion is ESPN driven lunacy.

Simple. He wants to come to LSU but also coach the playoffs for his team. LSU will let him, OM doesn’t want to help build his brand as the next coach of LSU during their postseason - solidifies their position as a second tier SEC team losing their coach to one of the top flight team and accommodating the transition. It’s not LSU or Lane that will prevent him from coaching the playoffs, only OM. Others can recruit on his behalf, though the portal window would be very awkward so that’s probably the biggest hang up. Decision is made, OM is deciding what is to be announced and Lane/LSU are happy to accommodate.
