LSU’s first African-American President.

Sorry to hear that. Wonderful man. I wonder if Mrs. Jenkins was/is still alive? She was/is a real sweetheart.

RIP to one of the finest leaders LSU ever had. Met him when he was dean of the SVM and he was one of the kindest, most respectful administrators you’d ever want. An old school chancellor who believed merit and the quality of an individual. LSU was lucky to have him and desperately needs more like him.

A genuinely nice individual who really led LSU the right way. He and his wife were always gracious and friendly, and did not engender the controversy so many modern university leaders now create.

Rather than see LSU lose to OU, he chose to die instead.

Good friends of my father-in-law. Had he and his wife over for dinner here in DFW once. Very nice folks!

GREAT Chancellor and President at LSU.
He was a veterinarian by trade because his family and their friends needed a Vet for their farms, so he became a veterinarian to support his community in South Africa.
Emigrated to America, and eventually led LSU to some of its biggest heights.

When I worked on campus as a student this man was tremendously friendly. One of those people that acted like you were the exact person he was looking to speak to and notice things to discuss with you. For me he would ask about my family, my school life, Greek life on campus, all kinds of background, and all I was doing was sorting and delivering mail, etc. Really sad to hear about this. Prince of a man.
