I don’t understand why LSU would want Lane to coach Ole Miss playoff run…

Outside of Kiffin wanting to do it. Get the argument that Ole Miss should let him, but how would this benefit LSU?

I guess it wouldn’t other than Lane having more time to raid OM’s roster.

Maybe it was an agreement to get him here in the first place? North Texas and tulane are going to do it depending on which one goes to the playoff

Well they certainly don’t, but they don’t hold the cards, Lane does

I mean it’s a pretty big dick move to have your new coach leading another team through a playoff run, knowing he chose your program.

What cards do LSU hold?

It would be better for LSU at least short term if he did finish at Ole Miss. But long term it could help his image if nobody can use that against him that he "quit" on his team. If nothing else, he can say he wanted to finish but was pushed out by OM.

Because if Lane says yes I’ll come but I have to see this out first, and you tell him no way, you risk losing him. It won’t hurt LSU because our recruiting class is already finished and you can get to work on approved players in the portal knowing Lane would be the coach as soon as they lose in the playoffs.

Isn’t him coaching an extension of recruiting on national television

They don’t want him too, but they will allow it if it’s one of lane’s demands for taking the job now

Transfer portal opens in early January where Ole Miss could presumably still be playing. So he would need to be spend a lot of time game planning for the rebels instead of assembling his staff and portal players for LSU.

Some of you are shockingly ignorant

Well if it was a condition of Lane coming, that would be a pretty big benefit, no?

I’d honestly be fine with it. He is clearly trying to do right by the team and school he’s coached for six years. I find that commendable.

Assuming Frank is staying on as recruiting coordinator, we likely can manage while he FaceTimes where needed.

As long it’s signed and announced having him coaching in the playoffs actually does benefit us imo.

With signing day, portal window and needing to assemble a staff in coaching change season, I’d want a coach focused on the task at hand. If it was part of the agreement to get him to come, then I can see it.

I am sure they would prefer not, but they aren't going to tell him no and risk him not coming here.

The benefit to LSU is that if they refuse to allow it he won’t come.

And if LsU REALLY wants him, that’s what they let him do.

Kiffin probably wants to coach in the playoffs for obvious reasons. There is nothing wrong with him wanting to.

LSU doesn't have the power here. If they want Kiffin and he is willing to announce he will be coaching LSU next year but wants to finish the season, then they either have to be ok with that or move on.

Ole Miss is the one who would probably not allow it.

And Ole Miss
Being the one not allowing it helps LSU
