Back the Blue: Why do cops use unmarked cars to enforce speed limits?

Or, hide their marked cars behind signs, buildings, and shrubs to run radar / laser and pull people over?
Speeds limits are supposedly there to keep us safe. Wouldn’t more people slow down and everyone ‘be safer’ if more drivers saw the police cars enforcing the speed limit?

It's a revenue generation scheme.

Because it’s about collecting another form of tax
Cops are just the enforcers of the government mafia

The scumbag cops around Welsh know that very well.

some police departments actually see it that way. Others simply see it as a revenue source.

Why not?
Why do people buy radar detectors?
Why do people mark police locations on google maps?

That’s the answer. With nav apps like Waze you can tip everyone off to speed traps. Which is good since everyone slows down. The cops just want their revenue racket back

Tax collectors with a gun.

Wouldn't people be more inclined to speed dangerously if they knew no police would be anywhere within sight?
I love seeing someone weave thru lines of cars going 20 mph above the speed limit get brought down by a police car regardless of marked or unmarked.
Do I 'speed' ??? = yes - of course I do. But I am amongst the safest driver you could imagine. And I have been stopped by unmarked cars that I failed to see. Didn't like it - but I am not opposed to them doing their jobs.
I have also been just given a warning ticket far more often - with the admonition of = 'just hold it down a little'
I have only gotten ONE ticket in my 72 years of driving that I did NOT deserve - almost got held in contempt if I "said one more word."

Stand a couple of hundred feet upstream from the speed trap with a sign that says “COPS AHEAD!” and almost every car will slow to the speed limit. A hidden cop will normally only stop cars going a good deal over the limit and most drivers never even see the cop and continue to drive between 5-10 mph over.
And no one will hassle you for promoting public safety, right?

It's deeper than that.
A police force and presence is necessary. The laws are what needs to change. There are good cops that save lives and prevent or deter a LOT of crime on a daily basis.

Police revenue should never be tied to law enforcement activities as it creates a perverse incentive to prioritize revenue collection over public safety.
Traffic stops are the most dangerous common interaction for police officers with citizens for both the officer AND the citizen. Considering how dangerous it is to pull someone over/be pulled over, it is my opinion that traffic stops should not be initiated unless the activity of the motorist is such a clear danger to others that the motorist must be removed from the road to prevent potential harm to others. People who are pulled over should be taken to jail, not ticketed, because if they were so dangerous that they needed to be pulled over to stop their operation of their vehicle, they’re too dangerous to allow to continue operating it.
Disguised cop cars running speed traps are nothing more than highway robbers hiding behind a badge.

If they really wanted to enforce it then why not just cap the speed the vehicle can actually go? There is your answer.
