“We” sure do have skin in this buyout. I guess you think SNAP benefits are free as well.

Don’t complain when going to games continues to go up in price.

Just money that could be spent on the team or other sports else where instead of going to BK

I personally would prefer more going to baseball.

Why do you people get so stingy with money when considering LSU coaching staff hires/fires?

Hell channel this energy into bitching at our gov to be cheap there where that actually can help

Leave the billionaires and their whims to shell cash out alone

Actually, boosters, season ticket holders, students, and fans do indirectly pay for all of this.

Im not opposing the expenditures, but they do all ultimately come from the fans. Where else would the revenue come from?

His objective was retirement when he came to LSU and got it, little incentives to coach again.

To say it’s been interesting watching this fiasco from the outside looking in is the understatement of 2025. I’m not sure the LSU faithful have a fricking clue what a “buyout” is?

Not only is LSU on the hook for BK’s buyout w/o cause, his staff’s contracts, but you’re also paying a gigantic sum to Ole Miss if you poach Kiffin and his entire staff’s contracts as well. That’s the “buyout” Kiffin wouldn’t owe Ole Miss a dime, LSU is “buying out” the remainder of his and his staff’s contract. Then you have to immediately pay him and his “new” staff a huge amount as initial hires.

This was after you poached Baker from us, now imagine what you’d be paying Ole Miss for Kiffin, his staff, and transfers.

quote:

For example, LSU is paying $950,000 to Missouri on behalf of new defensive coordinator Blake Baker, according to Missouri spokesman Ryan Koslen. This was two weeks after Missouri announced that Baker had signed a new contract extension. Under Baker’s prior terms, he would have owed Missouri $800,000.

LSU doesn’t “pay” Ole Miss anything. LSU has nothing to do with the agreements with their (OM) coaches.

They can offer Kiffin and pay his OM buyout and any buyouts for anyone he wants to bring, but anyone not coming with him who is not retained by OM will have to be paid in full by OM.

Also, Kelly needs to actively seek employment and show proof or his buyout could be in jeopardy as well.

I don’t really care one way or the other, but it would be ironic if Kelly leaves millions on the table because he didn’t take the 30+ million LSU settlement offer. I have a feeling it may still happen.

The cost of my season tickets going up every year says otherwise.

Why would any team want to hire him with what he just pulled at LSU?
