Did Lane/Sexton cause the full BK buyout?

Certainly interesting timing and turn of events.

Perhaps Lane/Sexton needed to feel better about everything going on in Baton Rouge?

No. I think it means he's not coming to LSU.

Almost certainly. They would want all this out of the way before he would come. And BK getting everything clears doubt about whether LSU would do the same for Lane one day if needed.

LSU can’t sign someone to be the new head coach while the old head coach is still under contract. Kelly had to be terminated and they didn’t have time to build a “for cause” case or give Kelly the 7 day response period. I don’t think the ever intended to go that route anyway. It was just a negotiation tactic, that ultimately didn’t work.

I have no idea how one would see this as a sign we aren't getting lane

The likely case is that Sexton asked LSU to sort this out legally before he was comfortable sending a client there and they did.

That LSU just would've wrote a check north of $150 million for Kiffin and thus admission of liability. Governor said we aren't sitting contractd like that. No way he's okay with that. I think they said we will pay Kelley his money and then we aren't toxic and then we know weves already spent $56. Then go get a Coach that isn't so expensive.

You could have just said “I don’t know and I’m just talking out of my arse.”

Would have saved us those 8 seconds. (Only the real Gs are gonna get that cross reference)

Landry is the reason LSU now has fat pockets.

It's all based on current optics of what has already transpired and the possible best outcome for the situation. Since he wasn't fired for cause, he looks a little better for potential suitors which would offset the buyout.

LSU doesn't have to drag out a court case and look worse than it already has in this situation. It's basically "washing your hands, and hoping for the best."

Goodness you definitely don’t have a clue do you? I can promise you that everything you just said, expect the exact opposite.

If BK truly has interests from other schools, we won't have to pay the full amount.

I am hoping that is the case, especially in this coaching cycle where so many schools are looking for a coach and there are so few. He is a good coach. I just think he lost interest in being at LSU for some reason. It seemed like he thought it was an automatic championship that he could come in here, quickly achieve, and retire. When it didn't happen right away, he checked out.

Yea only because he got into the trouble to begin with by wanting to go after him for cause. Yes, Woodward gave the stupid contract, but it was the same contract approved by the BOS. Should've just fired him without cause and given him the damn money to begin with. This looks like LSU was willing to play chicken with BK and his attorneys at a time where we couldn't afford anymore bad PR and it backfired. Had to go back on it just to save face. We always seem to stumble into the right thing instead of doing it right the first time.

I'm guessing with the commitment made to kiffen LSU would rather pay monthly installments Basically LSU saying ok a-hole u don't want to settle here ya go 800k a month for the next 6 yrs. Kelly could have walked away w 25m and found a coaching job w all these openings. It's gonna come back to haunt him I hope
