Another great move by gum smackin Mick.
6 million to play 2/3 of a season and offer no help to our rookie qb who is finally starting….

The Saints took on additional dead cap space to facilitate the release. Cooks ended up foregoing over $2.1 million in potential salary and guarantees to gain his immediate free agency. The Saints paid Cooks approximately $6.06 million in total to catch 19 passes for 165 yards during his brief return stint.

When I stated his acquisition was a garbage move you guys lit me up.
The league has grown tall. He ain't that.

No. Brees retiring and Payton leaving told me. I knew we'd suck once they were gone. I don't ever expect us to be contenders for quite awhile.

Cooks is a wise man, leaving a dysfunctional organization for a potential Super Bowl contender.

Who cares. It's 6 million. pennys on the NFL.
Apparently Cooks wanted to try to get on with a contender in the twilight of his career. They tried a trade but nothing came of it, so they gave him his chance to sign elsewhere.
The right thing to do was allow him to do that. Not handcuff him to this sinking ship.
muh shouldn.t have shouldn't him in the first place.

You should be happy Loomis didn't throw in a 4th round pick to help with the release.

Meh ... Cooks was signed when the plan was to compete for the division wth Carr. He was also brought into mentor the young receivers and was named team captain. I am glad the Saints finally rebuilt, but I think we are winning this shite division with Carr, so the Cooks signing is not terrible.
