Garza guy gets fired for reporting the VP for crazy remarks.
quote:
Local 4 News in Detroit broadcast portions of the recording. In it, a speaker identified as Bally is heard saying, "We have s**t for f***king poor people. Who buys our s**t? I don’t buy Campbell’s products barely anymore. It’s not healthy now that I know what the f**‘s in it."
He also referenced "bioengineered meat," saying, "I don’t wanna eat a piece of chicken that came from a 3D printer."
quote:
According to the lawsuit and interviews Garza gave to local media, the claims stem from a recorded meeting between Garza and Campbell’s Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer Martin Bally. Garza, who began working remotely for the company in September 2024, said he met Bally at a restaurant in late 2024 believing they would be discussing his salary.
Instead, Garza alleges the executive delivered an hourlong tirade criticizing the company’s products, disparaging employees and customers, and making racially offensive remarks about Indian colleagues.
quote:
The recording, which lasted longer than an hour and 15 minutes, included what Garza said was a "disgusting" rant alleged to be made by Bally about his coworkers: "F***ing Indians don’t know a f***ing thing," and "Like they couldn’t think for their f***ing selves," it said in part.
The recording also allegedly captured Bally admitting he came to work after consuming marijuana edibles.

Garza said the exchange left him feeling "pure disgust."

I checked my home style chicken noodle soup- just says chicken. Do they have to label if it’s lab meat??

I was kinda like, meh, aint happening. Then I read:
quote:
made by Bally about his coworkers: "F***ing Indians don’t know a f***ing thing," and "Like they couldn’t think for their f***ing selves,"
And did a complete 180 thinking those damn Indians are doing exactly that

But those H1Bs are needed because Americans are not qualified to work in the soup industry!

Don't care, still firing this up and grabbing the crackers when I'm sick.

He said nothing that is false.

I eat it very occasionally, but canned soup is nasty, in general.

The 3D printed meat thing is false. It would be more expensive.

Why you would ever eat that crap when chicken soup is cheap and easy to make is beyond me.

Canned soup is disgusting.
My wife periodically makes huge batches of chicken broth with different herbs and spices. Simmers that shite for hours. Then freezes it in those silicone trays.
It makes soup making a breeze at a moment's notice. Stop buying canned soup, bouillon cubes and canned broth. Get your wives off of their phone and in the kitchen.

Maybe he meant that it was bioengineered meat. But saying things like that aren’t what got him fired. His uncomfortable facts regarding Indians is what got him fired.

He's the CIO overseeing all IT operations of the company. They probably don't have H1B's working in soup operations, but plenty on the IT side. And as CIO, he has himself to blame. It's probably his damn signature on their H1B applications.

I sure hope not. I have over 3,000 shares in campbells.

After just skimming this thread I decided to read all of the link you provided to see if there was something I was missing.
When you read the things he said, the part about the Indians should be the least concerning part of it.
Then they say what he said about the 3D printed food wasn't true (which I assumed), I realized this was a conversation between two coworkers. It seems like a "normal" conversation two dudes would have.
Like when someone at work is pissed at someone else and he goes to lunch with a coworker and talks about the situation and out of frustration he says "That dumb jackass and his new fricking truck he can't stop talking about. I keep showing him how to do it and he still fricks it up every single time. Just looking at him gets on my fricking nerves. It must be the Irish in him". You just say shite about whatever you know about them.
In this situation maybe the Indians don't know a fricking thing and they need to be told what to do over and over. How is that racist? And isn't Indians a nationality? Are they from India?
I don't get this.

The Campbell’s Co. said Wednesday it has fired an executive who was recorded making racist comments and mocking the company’s products and customers.
Martin Bally, a vice president in Campbell’s information security department, was named in a lawsuit filed last week by Robert Garza, a former Campbell’s employee who said he was fired Jan. 30 after he reported Bally’s comments to a supervisor.
The lawsuit was filed in Michigan, where both Garza and Bally live. Campbell’s is based in Camden, New Jersey.
In the lawsuit, Garza claimed he met with Bally in November 2024 to discuss his salary. During the meeting, which Garza allegedly recorded, Bally described Campbell’s as “highly process(ed) food” and said it was for “poor people.”
