JUST IN: In a huge move, President Trump signs executive order launching a national Artificial Intelligence initiative, modeled after the MANHATTAN PROJECT in terms of its ambition
Trump has launched the "Genesis Mission," a coordinated effort to surge AI "innovation and discovery" and dominate the world in AI
"The Genesis Mission will bring together our Nation’s research and development resources — combining the efforts of brilliant American scientists, including those at our national laboratories, with pioneering American businesses; world-renowned universities; and existing research infrastructure, data repositories, production plants, and national security sites — to achieve dramatic acceleration in AI development and utilization."
"We will harness for the benefit of our Nation the revolution underway in computing, and build on decades of innovation in semiconductors and high-performance computing."
"The Genesis Mission will dramatically accelerate scientific discovery, strengthen national security, secure energy dominance, enhance workforce productivity, and multiply the return on taxpayer investment into research and development, thereby furthering America’s technological dominance and global strategic leadership."
Might as well try to be the best at AI

Yea we can either stick our head in the sand or try to do it better than everyone else
Either way it’ll effect us. Be proactive, not reactive

I’m fine with regular AI, but Artificial general intelligence (AGI) should be banned.

It wouldn't stop other countries from developing it. It is coming whether we want it to or not. I get your point though.

You’re absolutely right. I just wish they wouldn’t.

I feel better now that the bullshite they tried to pull with the "BBB" with making it virtually impossible to have any regulation on AI for a damn decade was sniffed out and shot down.

Will MAGA look back on this like they do Operation Warp Speed?

A superintelligent AI is one that thinks and reasons exactly like a human, except it would be much smarter than us.
Imagine a 50,000 IQ computer that can do everything much better than humans. It would be smart enough to make itself smarter, and it would know how to build other computers or robots. It wouldn't need us.

The only problems Europe has are immigration and social modernism. Not a lack of tech grifters.

True but from a government and policy perspective, they do not embrace technology.
We definitely don't want baws making tech policy in this country.

Right… because nobody has ever warned humanity about creating a false god on earth or anything
Even the name of this freaks me out. You couldn’t have used any name other than the first book of the Bible? Feels like they’re laying all the groundwork for a new religion

What is the solution to the Tragedy of the Commons?
It’s to turn to God. When you care more about your soul than your wealth, your highest priority is to do the right thing. Even if the other players in the game won’t.
Our concern needs to be with sin, and not being baited into following our adversaries into it. Creating false gods is a sin. There is no place for AGI/ASI in this world.
