Blue heron ate 3 of my 10 inch plus koi’s. I’ve bought a net in meantime but it went to a gap and caught another one.
I bought automated sprinklers but it will go below freezing soon so want to understand risks.

Put a heron decoy in the pond. They’re territorial critters.

My dad dug a catfish pond in the back of our pasture when I was probably in middle school. I saw a blue heron down by the pond and was watching it with binoculars; my dad said "REB, don't kill that bird, we like to watch it."
I watched it eat a catfish, and told him. He then said "REB go kill that bird."

Too bad it wasn’t a sandhill crane. They are rather tasty. Aka ribeye of the sky.
