McNearney, executive producer for “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” appeared on the “We Can Do Hard Things” podcast on Nov. 6, where she revealed that before the 2024 election, she reached out to some of her conservative family members in a last-ditch effort to convince them not to vote for President Donald Trump. She told the hosts she had emailed her conservative relatives a list of “ten reasons not to vote for [Trump]” and said she’s lost relationships with some family members over their support for the current president. While speaking about people cutting off their family members over differences in political views, Maher addressed McNearney’s comments, slamming her for ending relationships with family members who wouldn’t “obey” her plea to not vote for Trump. “Molly McNerney, Jimmy Kimmel’s wife and head writer, went public on this topic recently, so I feel it’s fair to comment, respectfully, in public. She says she’s lost relationships with relatives because she wrote them an email before the election with ten reasons why they shouldn’t vote for Trump, and some still didn’t obey, so you know,” Maher said, clicking and gesturing a slicing motion across his neck.

For Molly McNearney's [douchebag kimmy's wife] family, this is a feelgood story during the holidays. Not having to put up with seeing them for a day or so has got to make the majority of the family happy.

If any family member did this to me, including children, parents, siblings, etc., I would oblige them on cutting ties. No one will dictate how I think or vote to have a relationship.

This is, in essence, a major difference in ideology of conservatism vs. progressivism.

I'm not a Bill Maher fan, but he isn't your typical brain-dead virtue-signaling Hollywood loon like George Clooney or Patton Oswalt (I barely even know who he is, but Oswalt is a complete nutjob). Maher attended Cornell, which means he's not on the same level with a Julia Roberts or Madonna.
Maher is basically an old school liberal. But, he's smart enough to see through this woke insanity, and frankly, I think he's embarrassed by much of what he's been seeing lately from both the Democrat Party and the usual suspects in Hollywood who regularly spew some of the dumbest rhetoric on the planet.

BTW she explained in the interview that she is dedicated to caring for the poor and the Republican party isn’t showing that. So she’s confused charity with marxism and lost family members as a consequence.

I remember when who you voted for was actually a private matter and wasn’t something you went around screaming from the rooftops. Now social media has created politically charged environments in the workplace, sports, entertainment, religion, and extended families. Used to be you could put a bumper sticker on your truck if you wanted but that was about as far as it went. I miss those days.
