Ole Miss CFP situation like Florida State a Few Years ago? (Kiffin)

Yes, I know it’s now 12 teams vs 4 back then. That said…
Undefeated Florida State was kept out of the CFP solely because Jordan Travis was knocked out for the rest of the season.
Lane Kiffin has done a hell of a job at Ole Miss. If he takes the LSU or Florida job and leaves the team after the egg bowl, does the ranking committee drop Ole Miss down to the point that they don’t get into the CFP?

FSU was kept out for the same reasons that 1 loss FSU got in over undefeated West Virginia.

I think if Ole Miss loses on Friday and Lane leaves Saturday, there is 0% chance the committee puts them in the playoff.
I think if Lane leaves after a win, they make it at 11-1.

If ole miss somehow loses to state and lane leaves that weekend … might get dicey

11-1 they are obviously in. 10-2 gets interesting, especially if Vandy, OU, and Bama all win. I don't think that would be Kiffin related however.

OU wouldn’t get in over Ole Miss because we beat them in Norman. The committee already set that precedent last year when they ranked us above South Carolina at the end of the year when you had dipshits saying they should have been in over us even though we slapped them in Columbia

Ole Miss has the OU protection, even with a loss.
OU has the ranked wins that keeps them in. Ole Miss has the win @OU.

It becomes an interesting case because OU's schedule is so much stronger than Ole Miss, even with a head to head win. OU will have a top 5 SOS, while Ole Miss will be in the 30s or 40s.

OU will be left out of the playoffs when they lose this weekend.

Losing your head coach is a mitigating factor that did not come into play last season. Ole Miss needs to win if Lane is leaving. If Lane stays, I think they are in regardless, barring a drubbing at the hands of Moo State.

Disagree. They would just move the goalposts and say blah blah Oklahoma had the bigger wins and that they don't view the teams as equal right now especially since they lost their head coach.
Not saying I agree with that, just what I think they would do.

And there it is.
There's a HUGE problem with the current state of college football when a program is at risk of being downgraded out of the CFP because another program takes their head FB coach and convinces him to leave the current job before the season is over.

FSU was out of a 4 team playoff because they lost their best player at the most important position.
We are at a 12 team playoff. Ole Miss will not be left out if they don’t have a coach (assuming they win this weekend). There aren’t enough hoops for the committee to jump through to keep them out.

No its not. The starting QB got hurt for Florida state. Ole Miss May not have a head coach but the players are there. The play calls should look the same. Its just a different play caller that may or may not call plays like Kiffin does.

Quitting on his first team to make a playoff would be the most Kiffin move ever.

I’m conflicted on my thought process being:
1- He’s be a big arse piece of shite to do so.
2- It’s not his fault the system has teams bidding on him and demanding he quit on his team before the playoff.
Either way, it’s another talking point into how college football’s system is completely broken.

Kiffin would be the most hated man in Oxford should this happen

you assuming the committee will use common sense?
