PT Board Pulse: W Bush&Cheney; 1) Well-Meaning Souls Or 2)Corrupt Political Establishment?

Everybody's welcome to opine, but I'm really curious what the breakdown is among conservatives. This board's dynamic is (best guess) approximately 70% conservative/30% liberal or non-MAGA moderate/libertarian.
So basically the question is, do you look back when these two men were in power and think they did their best for the American people and simply made some crucial mistakes, or do you look at them as being the progeny of a couple of crooked political families who owed their respective souls to the corrupt Political system?
For me it's 100% the latter option, but what do you think?
PS - And if you wish to answer this, would you vote for Trump or George W. Bush RIGHT NOW in a GOP Primary?

Great question and I think the great weight of the evidence supports the first of the two choices: well meaning, largely principled conservatives who made some poor choices and who believed too much in the cause of liberty and the ability of America’s armed forces to promote the cause of liberty even in cultures that lack the prerequisite attributes.

We sent our blacks, Mexicans and poors off to fight and die Iraq and Afghanistan instead of giving them section 8 and Obamacare here.
It was just a better, more simple time when America was greater than it is now.
