Where he goes LSU or not, he has clearly matured as a person over the old Lane from UT.

The biggest criticism I see now is the timing issue. But what is he supposed to do? We are in a different New World order where NIL and the portal have destroyed most of the sense of loyalty to school in college.

LSU in Florida or both choice jobs and they need to have a coach soon. It sucks for the school that will train their next coach, but a coach will likely leave their team to move up to LSU in North Florida

And you can save the crocodile tears for the impact to the Ole Miss players. These are the very same players that are now making millions of dollars in college. Again, it’s a business now more than anything. And Lane is doing what he’s doing in a business like, professional manner.

So it would be business like and professional if Kewan Lacy were visiting Georgia this week?. Or if Jemarr Chase had been visiting Alabama the week before we played A&M in 2019 and was sitting at his new condo in Tuscaloosa with his new QB Trevor Lawrence the night we played Clemson?

This sense of loyalty in college football was dead even before Tuberville left Ole Miss for Auburn a generation ago.

Its total bullshite but because its become common place, we now accept it

Do. Coach the team you’re hired to coach now. Focus on getting as far as possible. Talk about leaving AFTER the season. Have some freaking self respect.
Don’t. Fly around on your bye week kicking the tires and creating anxiety for the people who have worked hard to put you in this position.

IMO the Kiffin sweepstakes is a performative clown show. This, same as LSU firing coaches mid season, has been totally unprofessional.

Apples to oranges here. Both of those positions have more than one spot on a roster and teams dont lose every player at a position and have to replace them. So if those scenarios were to happen, it would purely be those players searching out other opportunities.

In Kiffins case, there’s only one head coaching spot on a team and he has zero control over if/ when that position becomes available. Opportunities like this one don’t come around that often. And I think it’s an objective fact that the ole miss program isn’t on the same level as LSU/ uf, even though they have done well since Lane got to town ( hence the interest).

My point is, in your scenario players are just bouncing out looking for a bigger bag, in Lane’s he has no control over the timeline and openings at other schools. I can’t blame him for testing the waters, Like I said, opportunities like this don’t come around that often.

Did you expect them to organize a big send off and well wishes party on the grove and name the field after Lane?

You mean publicly sending his family to BR and not hiding the tail numbers on the jet, essentially allowing it to leak? Also trolling his own fanbase (posting pics of a Kiffin 2026 hat prior to the Florida game) while they are in the middle of the middle of a playoff run?

He's the same guy that got left on the tarmac and ditched TN in the middle of the night. People don't change that much.

I agree with the sentiment. But if a better job comes up, a school is not going to wait around for you to finish a playoff run when you have the portal activity and recruiting to be done.

So lets say you announce your new coach so the portal and recruits at least know who the coach will be. Well the old school isn't going to let you coach their team knowing you are leaving and the players aren't going to want to play for you.

In today's football, doing what you say isn't possible anymore if you are looking to a better program to coach

What the hell is he supposed to do? Rich people fly on private jets, and that data is accessible by everyone. It's not his fault that simps track every movement he makes and then blast him for doing it in "public"

I think the family to BR was leverage move. Either to get more NIL out of OM or more out of UF.

I think if you were wanting to be discreet and not let others know you were considering LSU, you wouldn't take an LSU boosters jet.
You would take a NetJets or something discreet and hidden from public.

They have every right to be. Their team is possibly being set up for a CFP run, and yet they have all this surrounding their head football coach. Not a coordinator, but the head guy. And if LSU or FL does score Kiffin before the season ends, you'll then have Ole Miss possibly poking around Tulane's campus. You could have two teams in the CFP as their head coaches are being poached.

College football is becoming more and more a shite product because of stuff like this. I don't blame LSU for going after Kiffin, but there's just something jacked up with the scenario on how all this is going down.

Though I guess we'll soon start seeing players opt out of CFP games because they'll be transferring to another school in the offseason for more NIL, and they don't want to risk injury. So they'll leave their current team hanging in the middle of a run for a national championship.

Hide the tail numbers. Don't have the plane fly directly from point A to point B that makes it obvious. Don't get off the plane in public view so people can snap pictures.

This is college coaching 101 - there are ways to be stealth and they didn't do any of them - it's sloppy and embarrassing.

I like Kiffin and think his trolling is hilarious but I also think what he’s doing is the opposite of “mature.” The mature thing would be to stay quiet and let the fans and media talk without knowing tweeting to troll all schools involved. You can’t say you love where you are then refuse to shut down rumors. I’m looking at if from an ole miss fan perspective. We would be pissed if our coach did that. I’d rather how saban did it and flat out deny he’s leaving instead of what Lane is doing. That’s just my opinion, that means absolutely means nothing at all.
