Question...What would the board expect the LSU AD to do if...

We were 10-1, with a practically guaranteed playoff birth, and great chance to host a first round game...
And our HC sent his family on Sunday to visit Bama and yesterday to visit GA, while entertaining taking jobs there? And at the same time not signing a contract making him the highest paid coach?
I will hang up and listen.

Well, no one has actually confirmed Lane or his family was in BR. He very well could not even be aware of what happened yesterday.

do hot yoga with the coach the next day

Hope and pray he chooses us, and at least gets us the natty we want. If I'm Ole Miss, a natty would be massive, they need that as much as they need Lane if they want good coaching candidates in the future.

Miles had this scenario in 07

You sure about that?

LSU AD and Ole Miss AD are two very different scenarios.
LSU has pedigree and allure that OM will never have. So if I’m the LSU AD and Lane was doing this to us?
Tell him sign the extension and stick with us or see ya and god bless… the LSU job will get good coaches to come here.
That’s just me. I don’t blame OM for their position currently.

This analogy isn't comparable because LSU is on par with Bama and UGA for resources, NIL, etc.
Ole Miss is not.
It would be more analogous to a coach flirting with the NFL and we've already been down that road and we all got pissed about it, hated him for going to a rival and creating a dynasty, and then all wanted him to come back this year.

It's been confirmed by local media in BR that Layla, Angela, and 2 of Angela's kids came to BR yesterday.
Lane did not. Chris did not. Knox did not. (some posted that they had, but it was never confirmed and then debunked soon after)

What would it take for you to say its been confirmed?

Dude, we know who the realtor was that showed them around town. This beyond a fact.

Putting UGA is a bad one. That will not happen Kirby is going to retire there. Now if you put Florida and Bama that I would be a little more inclined to believe could happen.
Regardless this is the landscape of College Football. You try to keep your Coaches the best you can but you don't fire the Coach you want because hes flirting with other jobs. Try to protect yourself with buyouts if you can and keep them well paid.

If I were the AD I would go to my coach and say:
"We know you are in high demand by our competitors. We also know that high demand is a result of your success here, which was not achieved by you alone. We want you to remain our coach. As such, I'm prepared to give you my best and final offer. However, if you intend to accept another job, I ask that you let me know that as soon as possible so I can begin making arrangements to hire your replacement. I also think it would be respectful that you told your team as soon as possible that you intend to leave. You have until X date to sign the new contract. If you don't sign by that date, then I will have to assume you intend to accept another job. Thus, I will have no choice but to begin the process of identifying and hiring your successor."
Then I would tweet and/or hold an interview saying to the fans: "We very much want Coach () to remain our coach. As such, we have offered a contract that will make him the highest paid coach in the nation. I have respectfully asked Coach () that he notify me and his players of his intentions by X date. If Coach fails to do so or indicates he intends to leave, I will begin the process of finding and hiring his successor."
